I'm a Christ Follower first and foremost...a daughter, sister, wife, mom, runner, writer, blogger and many more things. I love to read books, watch movies, run in the sunshine, and hang out with my family. I have one husband, 4 chitlins, 2 fur babies, a 3yr old granddaughter and a partridge in a pear tree.
I started running at age 40 after surviving cancer, surgery and treatment. I felt as if I needed to prove to myself that if I could survive cancer I could become a runner. Running was something I always said I could never do, or it just wasn't for me. Walking is or rather was my choice of exercise, and I started doing that in my teen years. I started a C25K program in the summer of 2011 and 4 months later ran my first 5K The 40th Stage Coach Run in Jacksonville Oregon in 34:36. 6 months after that I ran my 2nd 5K The Pear Blossom Run in 30:13. In May of 2012 I ran The 5 mile Bridge Street Run here in my hometown in 50:00. My training was going well for my 1st half marathon in September of 2012 until I sustained a pelvic stress fracture. That put me out of the game for the entire summer and then some. After healing from pelvic fracture I ran the marathon that next year. Since then I have stopped racing and just run for the sheer joy and of course the health benefits. I now employ the walk/run method and it really does wonders in keeping me from breaking more bones.
I am also a vegan who eats a whole food plant based diet. Currently battling breast cancer 2017.

You never cease to amaze me. Some of these things I didn't even know about you and you are my cousin. We REALLY need to get together for dinner soon. Or maybe some Bingo in loving memory of Mama. I know my mom things about her ALL the time. So amazing that you became a runner. Just proves that you can do anything you set your mind to.
