Curves for women use this circuit training in all their locations. You can do circuit training at home, utilizing what you have around you as your "equipment". For example, if you do not have hand weights you could use soup cans that weigh between 2-5 lbs for your resistance work...(big soup cans). For your cardio circuits you could include jumping jacks, high knees, mountain climbers, bur-pees, and squat jumps. For the resistance part of your circuit you could do push-ups, bicep curls, lunges, chair dips, pull ups etc. Whatever works for you! You want to have approximately 5 cardio/aerobic circuits and 5 resistance circuits. You want to include this type of exercise at least 2-3x a week. (If ya like that kind of stuff)
I personally love to do this at home with the kids. It's a fun way to exercise together and it makes the time go by faster. Of course, I'm a runner so when I'm not cross-training I'm running (I dream about running). The weather has warmed up and every other day you will find me out in the sunshine running with a big smile on my face, training for my half marathon in September. Blessings and hugs...thanks for stopping by friends.
Godspeed...this comes from the Middle English expression "God spede (you)", a wish for success and fortune for one setting out on an enterprise, voyage, adventure, or travels. It may also mean good luck.

Circuit training is a good way to 'confuse' the muscles and shock them by not doing the same thing all the time. I know I could use more of this as well.
ReplyDeleteGreat post :)
Mark, this is so true...gotta keep those muscles guessing!
DeleteI can't believe I have been following you a year now...since the last A-Z April! I love circuit training...just don't have time. Happy Wednesday!
ReplyDeleteM, so glad you stuck with me...and it does take a bit of time that is for sure...blessings!
DeleteThis form of training is highly recommended by one of the masters of my gym who is a physical therapist in his day job. He's given me a number of excercises to do at home, it's just a matter of, you know, DOING THEM. That's always the challenge, isn't it?
ReplyDeleteYEs it is Beverly! Blessings and thanks so much for stopping by!
DeleteI don't think they will allow me into Curves...
ReplyDeleteLol, probably not bud!
DeleteI said in January that I'd like to try a 1/2 marathon in September... should I start training now??
ReplyDeleteKate, yes start a 16 or 18 or 24 week training plan...couch to half marathon is a good one...and it's for beginners, intermediates and advanced runners! Blessings

DeleteCircuit training sounds like fun. Curves was pretty popular around here for a while. Now everyone has joined a gym to use the machines. Glad it works for you. I wish I had the time (or the motivation.)
ReplyDeleteCircuits are great. Oh, I think they suck when I'm in the middle of them. But they do so much good.
ReplyDeleteI first got introduced by some crazy fitness leaders in the Air Force. Our unit built a reputation for being insane about fitness. I hated it, but looking back, I can see how good it was for me.
Love your positivity!
