G Is For...GPS

GPS is what we use to navigate our cars or steps with.  A GPS is defined as a global system of U.S. navigational satellites developed to provide precise positional and velocity data and global time synchronization for air, sea, and land travel.

Some of us use GPS for navigating while driving or hiking, others of us use it for mapping or recording our walks or runs with apps like Mapmyrun or Runtastic. I use mapmyrun and a Runtastic timer on my iPod but since I don't have GPS I cannot use mapmyrun in live time.

Mapmyrun has been so nice, in that I can go take a run and come home and use the create a map tab on their website, save it and use that same map over and over again

Runtastic's timer is a great tool to use when running or doing run/walk intervals.  There are three parts to the timer, part one is warmup or prepare, step two is your main workout, and step three is rest. I use it on my runs and as I end each phase of the timer it sends me an audio message telling me what to do next.

Thanks so much for stopping by, welcome to week 2 of the Challenge! Blessings and hugs!

What do you use your GPS for?
What do you wish you had GPS for?
Anyone else use Mapmyrun or Runtastic?

Godspeed...this comes from the Middle English expression "God spede (you)", a wish for success and fortune for one setting out on an enterprise, voyage, adventure, or travels. It may also mean good luck.

  1. I don't own a GPS but I've used them in rental cars and they can be very helpful leading one to a destination. I have a friend who uses one for geocaching.

  2. I don't have GPS, but I should. I'm constantly getting lost around here (it's a new city to me) and am always calling my husband for directions. :)

  4. Hi! I found you during my homework on the A-Z blog tour. :) Have you tried the Nike app? I think it does everything you're talking about in one app. I could be wrong... but it's all I use and I love it.

Pretty blog site!! I'll be back tomorrow!

  5. Good grief! Running has become so technological!

I don't have a GPS, and I don't want one. But thanks for asking. If I know the time and where the sun is, I can usually figure things out pretty well.

But go right ahead and have fun with your toys. Well, they're not toys; you put the technology to good use.

    Blessings and Bear hugs!

  6. I use a barminess GPS in my car. I have a terrible sense of direction. I also love my gamin 205 for running. It helps me keep track of distance and pace.

  8. I use GPS in the car, although it's let me down several times and I much prefer directions from someone who knows how to get where I'm going.
