GPS is what we use to navigate our cars or steps with. A GPS is defined as a global system of U.S. navigational satellites developed to provide precise positional and velocity data and global time synchronization for air, sea, and land travel.
Some of us use GPS for navigating while driving or hiking, others of us use it for mapping or recording our walks or runs with apps like Mapmyrun or Runtastic. I use mapmyrun and a Runtastic timer on my iPod but since I don't have GPS I cannot use mapmyrun in live time.
Mapmyrun has been so nice, in that I can go take a run and come home and use the create a map tab on their website, save it and use that same map over and over again.
Runtastic's timer is a great tool to use when running or doing run/walk intervals. There are three parts to the timer, part one is warmup or prepare, step two is your main workout, and step three is rest. I use it on my runs and as I end each phase of the timer it sends me an audio message telling me what to do next.
Thanks so much for stopping by, welcome to week 2 of the Challenge! Blessings and hugs!
What do you use your GPS for?
What do you wish you had GPS for?
Anyone else use Mapmyrun or Runtastic?
Godspeed...this comes from the Middle English expression "God spede (you)", a wish for success and fortune for one setting out on an enterprise, voyage, adventure, or travels. It may also mean good luck.

That's a really cool app!
ReplyDeleteIt is bud!
DeleteI don't own a GPS but I've used them in rental cars and they can be very helpful leading one to a destination. I have a friend who uses one for geocaching.

Tossing It Out
I have a friend that does geocaching too Lee! Blessings and thanks for coming by, I'm so honored!
DeleteI don't have GPS, but I should. I'm constantly getting lost around here (it's a new city to me) and am always calling my husband for directions. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for the follow! I like your blog—following back!
Thank you so much girl! Blessings!
DeleteI cannot survive without my GPS - I m directionally challenge.
ReplyDeleteOh I am too! Blessings LuAnn...
DeleteHi! I found you during my homework on the A-Z blog tour. :) Have you tried the Nike app? I think it does everything you're talking about in one app. I could be wrong... but it's all I use and I love it.
ReplyDeletePretty blog site!! I'll be back tomorrow!
Dana
Waiter, drink please!
Dana, I have the Nike app but don't have internet on my iPod outside of my house...lol! Blessings and thanks for stopping by!
DeleteGood grief! Running has become so technological!
ReplyDeleteI don't have a GPS, and I don't want one. But thanks for asking. If I know the time and where the sun is, I can usually figure things out pretty well.
But go right ahead and have fun with your toys. Well, they're not toys; you put the technology to good use.
Blessings and Bear hugs!

Yes, Rob it has...lol
DeleteI use a barminess GPS in my car. I have a terrible sense of direction. I also love my gamin 205 for running. It helps me keep track of distance and pace.
ReplyDeleteI just drive the route and map it later..that way I can just use my maps on mapmyroute...well actually it maps the distance for me!
DeleteOk that was Garmin
ReplyDeleteSounds like a really helpful app :)

Mark, it is bud!
DeleteI will have to check Runtastic out! I am not ready yet to use a running app but I am looking forward to the day I will! Thanks for stopping by my blog!

Maddy just keep doing what you are doing and it will happen!
DeleteI use GPS in the car, although it's let me down several times and I much prefer directions from someone who knows how to get where I'm going.
ReplyDeleteI prefer to map it on mapquest, it makes me feel safer for some reason! Thanks Emily for coming by my blog.
DeleteI'm with you on mapquest. I never use the GPS. LOL! I'm also a fellow runner. Thanks for the Runtastic tip. I currently use RunKeeper to keep up with my activity.
