IT is such a rush to completely destroy a PR. Not only do I feel so accomplished (the rush of adrenaline could fly me to the moon and back) I also feel like a super hero (for a day or two) in the eyes of my family. For example, when I ran my first 5k my finish time was 34:36, but when I ran The Pear Blossom Run last year my finish (chip time) time was 30:13...I KILLED it, by 4 minutes and 23 seconds. I was super excited and that feeling lasted several days. I still get excited when I think of it.
OF course, this Saturday when I run The Pear Blossom 5k I will probably not beat my last PR, read about my pelvic stress fracture debacle here. I am not back to normal yet so I will just have to be happy with what I get. We shall see. Wish me luck as I try to come close to my pre-injury PR.
- Have you ever "killed it"?
- Do you want to "kill it"?
- Do you think of hunting large game animals as "killing it"?
Godspeed...this comes from the Middle English expression "God spede (you)", a wish for success and fortune for one setting out on an enterprise, voyage, adventure, or travels. It may also mean good luck.

DeleteI am entering my second year of racing, so it's nice that every new distance is a PR. Now I get to kill my PR's. I've already beat my 5k and my 15k. This year I want to beat those AND my 10k, 10 miler, and half-marathon. We shall see. Good luck!
ReplyDeleteIt is nice when you run a New race and you automatically get a PR...love those!
DeleteYou CRUSHED it!!! Nicely done! You are an inspiration! I love your short, uplifting blogs and will look forward to checking-in with you on a regular basis when this challenge is over. :)
ReplyDeleteDana at Waiter, drink please!
So happy to have you come over...blessings!
DeleteI am impressed -
ReplyDeleteLuAnn You rock!
DeleteThat's awesome! My goal is to do a 5K under 30 minutes this year. If it would stop snowing, I may get a chance to train before summer gets here.
ReplyDeleteSpring should arrive momentarily, I hope!
DeleteI haven't killed it in awhile. Good luck this weekend.
ReplyDeleteThanks Darlene, blessings!
DeleteOh, I think I "nailed" it a few times, but never from running:)
ReplyDeleteyay for nailing it M.J.
DeleteNever thought of the term. But I have had a few successes.
ReplyDeleteBlessings and Bear hugs!

I am sure you have Rob-bear
DeleteKilling it! See also: destroyed, slaughtered, shattered...wow, breaking a PR is kind of violent! lol
ReplyDeleteYes it sounds quite violent to me as well, lol...thanks so much for stopping by
DeleteGood luck on your upcoming run!
ReplyDeleteWe used the phrase "you killed it!" a lot at work. We always had numbers and goals to meet so it was a common thing to hear while on the clock :)
Thanks so much Michelle, blessings sweetie.
DeleteAs a rule, I dislike runners because they magnify my laziness, but this was a great post. Yes, "killing it" is great. As a baseball fan, I love Dana's (whose blog led me to yours) word "crushed." Since you did ask, I hunt, but as a sober, responsible and ethical hunter, I don't think of killing an animal as "Killing It" in the jubilant sense. I emulate the attitude of the Native American hunters; I have respect for the animal that I've hunted, I appreciate what it's life has provided me. The killing of an animal is a sober thing for me, not the subject of an end-zone dance.
ReplyDeleteJer, I quite agree, I abhor poachers and people who bait animals and I am for the humane killing of animals only, I come from a long line of hunters and would never think to kill just for the sport! Blessings and thanks so much for stopping by!
DeleteI killed it a long time ago...now I just try to finish. When I run the local 5K every Sunday I try to beat my previous time...but this Sunday is a parent/child run...the only rule is you have to cross the finish line together...I hope we can kill our last 5K time...but I doubt it.
ReplyDeleteGreat K post...Happy A-Z!
Nice meeting you through the challenge! Hope your injury is healing well. Best of luck on your run!
ReplyDeleteJulie
You DID kill your 5K PR at the Pear Blossom Run last year - 4 minutes is huge! Way to go! :0)
ReplyDeleteI love when I push myself and am able to beat a PR - "killing it" is such an awesome feeling! Hope the 5K went well today!
Wishing you well in your run. May you feel the exhilaration of completing the race :)
